VAT Accountant (Germany) / Umsatzsteuer-Spezialist (m/w/d)

Your mission:

The Tax Accountant (German Market) plays a key role in supporting the Accounting Supervisor with VAT accounting and compliance across Epson's VAT registrations in Germany and other European countries.

Alongside these responsibilities, you'll contribute to general accounting activities and actively support the ongoing enhancement of tax processes within Epson Germany.

You'll be part of a close-knit, collaborative finance team that works together seamlessly, values open communication and takes a shared approach to problem-solving and day-to-day operations.


What you will do:

  • Manage end-to-end VAT compliance, including VAT returns, ESL, Intrastat, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Review gifts, company events, and other benefits in line with Section 37b EStG, ensuring correct tax treatment and audit-proof documentation.
  • Monitor VAT and tax regulations, working with authorities and external advisors to implement changes across systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with finance teams across Europe to support the VAT Helpdesk and ensure consistent, transparent processes.
  • Support audits, statutory reporting, and J-SOX compliance, including documentation and annual filings.
  • Oversee e-invoicing (AP/AR), resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliant archiving of financial documents.
  • Drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and act as a key SAP Finance user.

What we ask for:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Solid experience in accounting in an international environment, ideally with a focus on Germany.
  • Strong knowledge of German tax regulations, including practical experience with §37b EStG.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with SAP or a similar ERP system.
  • Good understanding of VAT and goods/service flows.
  • Business-fluent German (minimum C1, written and spoken) is essential, with good English for working across Europe.
